How It Works
Rules, scoring & FAQ
The Draft
Each participant drafts NCAA tournament teams across 4 rounds of 16 picks. All 64 teams get drafted — once the draft is done, every team in the bracket is owned by someone in the pool.
How does the draft order work?
When signup closes, the admin generates the draft order. Players are randomly assigned to rounds based on their roster size (1–4 teams). Each round, the 16 players in that round are given a freshly randomized pick order — no one carries positional advantage from one round to the next.
How many teams do I draft?
You choose your roster size when you join (1–4 teams). If you pick 3 teams, you'll appear in 3 of the 4 rounds. The total across all players always adds up to 64.
What happens after the draft order is generated?
You'll see your assigned rounds and pick positions before the draft starts — use this time to browse teams, check spreads, and plan your strategy. When the admin starts the draft, picks go live one at a time.
What if I can't make the draft?
Toggle Auto-Draft on and the system picks the best available team by seed, prioritizing regions you haven't covered yet.
Once the draft is complete, you root for your teams to win games — and beat the spread.
Covering & Getting AX'd
How do I advance in the bracket?
Your drafted teams advance by covering the spread. Spreads are set daily and gathered from the Odds API based on live Vegas lines. If your team covers, they move on to the next round and stay yours.
What happens if my team doesn't cover?
You get the AX. If your team fails to cover the spread, the person who drafted the underdog takes your team going forward. For example: you own #1 Duke and they're -8.5 against #8 Memphis. Duke wins by 6 — they didn't cover. The owner of Memphis now takes Duke for the rest of the tournament.
What happens if a game lands exactly on the spread (a push)?
A push goes to the underdog. If the game lands exactly on the spread, the underdog owner takes the team — just like not covering.
The Bracket
Where can I see the bracket?
Once you join a pool, head to the bracket page from your game. It shows all 64 teams, their seeds, point spreads for each matchup, and live scores as games are played.
How are spreads shown?
Between each pair of teams you'll see the Vegas line — e.g. Connecticut -3.5 means UConn is a 3.5-point favorite. PK means it's a pick'em (no spread).Line TBD means lines haven't opened yet.
How often is the bracket updated?
The bracket updates automatically. Scores, spreads, and ownership changes are synced in real time as games are played.
Roster & Draft Board
The roster page (available inside your game) shows every participant in the pool, their draft position, and which teams they have been assigned. Use it to see who owns which teams before rooting for your picks.
